It's Culture Week 2019! | What to look out for this week at ESHS

Culture Week has officially commenced and the Elmore Stoutt High School has alot in store for its students, all under the theme: "Revitalizing Virgin Islands Culture As We Celebrate 25 Years!".

November 11th and 12th both kick things off with Cultural Lessons along with sampling of foods. The real fun, however, happens on Wednesday November 13th as that day in particular is called Virgin Islands' Culture-wear day, all going down at the L. Adorothy Turnbull Building on the ESHS campus. A plethora of activities will be happening on this day;

  • Cultural Displays will be up.

  • Old-time children games will be played.

  • Local Food and Drinks will be tasted.

  • Singing, Dancing and Story-telling will be dramatically and passionately expressed. (Just to name a few)

Thursday and Friday (November 14th and 15th) ends things off with a series of cultural presentations that you do not want to miss out on!

  1. On Wednesday, November 13th 2019, EVERYONE is expected to be fully 'clad' in V.I. cultural attire using ONLY our V.I. cultural material/fabric.

  2. Absolutely, NO V.I./MYBVI t-shirts, polos or hoodies will be permitted to be worn by any student on this Culture Wear Day! We are emphatically stressing that our ESHS Student Body ONLY WEAR our Traditional V.I. Cultural Material. (clothing made from Madras & National Wear Fabric)

  3. Students without full, traditional cultural attire have been given permission to wear a sash or a head-wrap/band made with our traditional V.I. cultural material.

  4. This day is JUST for our ESHS FAMILY and our invited SPECIAL GUESTS.

If a student has no cultural attire, sash, head-wrap or band THEN he/she must wear the Full, Formal ESHS School Uniform!
