Give Teachers Their Flowers! | A Heartfelt Article

What a way to conclude teachers' week! In this article we end this week on a more heartfelt note between recent graduate and salutatorian of the Elmore Stoutt High School class of 2020, Zakila Frett, and newly appointed assistant principal of the Elmore Stoutt High School, Marsha Penn.

She writes,

Good morning all. I am Zakila Frett; the past salutatorian of the ESHS Class of 2020. I was one of the many students who participated in the first territory-wide Drive-through graduation ceremony, and I’m currently a student at the HLSCC. In light of Teacher’s Day which has recently passed, I would like to thank all the teachers who have taught me and built me into the young woman that I am today.

There is one teacher by the name of Marsha Penn, whom I would like to thank the most for making this transition to college easier for me, amidst this whole pandemic. I know it’s not easy to manage both high school, as well as college but you’ve done a great job in doing so. Although you’re not my permanent teacher I just want to commend you for taking in my class and being able to bring the lessons across in ways that I can understand. You make Math look easy and fun, and you provide us with multiple explanations as to why we’re doing what we are doing. You’re always willing to help, and you take time out of your personal life just to help us understand things, and for that I’m grateful. Once again, I just want to say thank you and I’ll end with this poem.

Miss Marsha Penn has since expressed her appreciativeness for both the kind words and poem, to the point where she became emotional as it "Made her day".

Teachers' week may have finally come to an end, but we should be constantly reminded that teacher appreciation should not just be restricted to just one week. Teachers should be appreciated every single day, Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, caliber, and future of an individual, and students should forever be thankful.

We love and appreciate all teachers across the territory, as well as the world. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
